Traditional Malnad Food

Food is predominantly Rice based like Akki rotti, Kadabu, Shevige for breakfast, lunch, dinner. There are variety of veg and non veg options like Kesa, basale soppu, pathrode, fish, country chicken, pork, mutton etc. Most of the produce is straight from the farm or locally sourced. Apart from that coffee, spices, cardamom, honey, wine are available most of the homestays. Popular wines are rice wine, ginger wine, beetal leaf wine, anjeer wine, bannana wine etc. Tody is also available if you are lucky. A pinch of wine goes well with bonfire and barbeque.
